Ten Days in China: A Journey of Discovery

I have just returned from ten days in China, a trip that was equal parts exhilarating and illuminating. For the first time, I stepped inside the very factories that bring Le Sac to life, met the skilled hands behind our products, and worked alongside new suppliers to source new high quality fabrics for our upcoming collections. It was a journey into the heart of craftsmanship, and I was surprised—delighted, even—by what I found.

China, often spoken of in broad, impersonal strokes when it comes to manufacturing, revealed itself to be something quite different. The factories I visited were not vast, soulless machines but small, family-run businesses where precision and care are woven into every stitch. I had expected efficiency, but I had not anticipated such artistry. The quality was exceptional—better, in some cases, than I had dared to hope. And the technology! Innovation hums quietly in these workshops, where tradition meets the future in the most elegant of ways.

Then, there was the food—an experience in itself. I had been warned, of course, of the unfamiliar, but I found almost everything to be really delicious. Each meal was an exploration, each dish a discovery. From the silken handmade dumplings to the delicate balance of spice and sweetness in dishes I could barely name.

And the country itself? Immaculately clean, startlingly efficient, and astonishingly easy to navigate. There is a rhythm to China, a quiet orchestration of movement that makes everything feel seamless. The people I met—factory owners, suppliers, market vendors—were generous with their time, eager to share their knowledge, and endlessly patient as I asked questions, examined materials, and, occasionally, became lost in the labyrinth of fabric markets.

I returned home with a head full of ideas, a suitcase full of samples, and a newfound appreciation for the hands and minds behind our products. Le Sac has always been about thoughtful design and enduring craftsmanship, and now, more than ever, I feel the weight and wonder of that responsibility. This trip has changed the way I see what we do, and I cannot wait to weave these discoveries into the future of Le Sac.
